WELCOME TO TURNPIKE 100
ABOUT TURNPIKE 100
CEO Fellowship Program
This program, conceived four years ago by Turnpike CEO Mark Compton, was developed to introduce the next generation of professionals to the transportation industry.
As in prior years, interns will collaborate on a team project assigned by the CEO. This year, the project will focus on planning ahead for the 100th anniversary of the Turnpike in 2040. This “Turnpike 100” project will involve long-range planning from all aspects of operations.
To conclude their internship experience, the group plans to make a presentation of their Turnpike 100 project to commissioners and senior staff in early August.

MINI LONG-RANGE PLAN

REPORT
This report is the product of research done by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s (PTC’s) 2017 CEO Summer Interns. The focus of the project, titled “Turnpike 100,” is on projecting what the Pennsylvania Turnpike will look like in the year 2040, as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. The report focuses these projections through the lens of each of the PTC’s seven Strategic Drivers: Mobility, Safety, Infrastructure, Financial, Workforce, Partnership, and Customer. Its authors have also created a new, eighth Driver, Technology, which they believe will become critical to the PTC’s operations in the years to come.
